Endless runners have become unavoidable? irresistible? Well whatever you call it, games of this genre are pretty entertaining. So we have a round-up of some of the best third-person Endless runners available on Google Play.

And the best part is, they are all free.  It may be worth noting that they do have In-app purchases, although in most cases these can be avoided completely.

Let’s  take a look at the best five running games on Android: (They are not listed in any particular order)

Subway Surfers:

Subway surfers
You help Jake (and his friends) run from the Inspector and his dog. The game features stunning HD graphics, trains, hoverboards, jetpacks, unlockable characters, upgrades.

I think this game is very similar to Temple Run, here’s why:

  1. Completing missions rewards you with a score multiplier.
  2. Pausing and resuming the game takes a few seconds.
  3. You can stumble on various obstacles and the Inspector almost catches up  with you.
  4. Magnet upgrade to collect coins.

But still its a superb game. I recommend playing it on a tablet for getting the best graphics.

Pros:

  • HD graphics.
  • Many characters to unlock.
  • Powerups and Upgrades.
  • Missions to boost multiplier.
  • Daily missions for cool game items.

Cons:

  • Ad supported.
  • Daily missions can be buggy.
  • Accidental double taps can use up precious hoverboards.
  • Characters are way too expensive and some can be unlocked by collecting pickups, which are quite rare.

Download Subway Surfers from Google Play.

Agent Dash:
Agent Dash

You are an agent and you run through enemy bases and destroy them. You can collect diamonds to upgrade stuff, buy gadgets and call for backup.

Pros:

  • Great graphics.
  • Many characters to unlock.

Cons:

  • Sound quality isn’t the best.
  • A bit slow to load.

Download Agent Dash from Google Play.

Aby Escape:Aby Escape

You play as a Racoon and have to run away from people. Isn’t that enough reason to play? No? Ok how about this, you get to play the Endless mode and collect enough coins and unlock the story mode with challenging levels. You have to avoid various obstacles and can collect various pickups, and use the coins to upgrade items and unlock new characters.

The games graphics is quite good and so is the music. It may take you quite a while to get used to the various obstacles and powerups, but its worth it.

Pros:

  • Great graphics.
  • Many characters to unlock.
  • Story mode can be unlocked for free.
  • Upgrades and unlockable characters

Cons:

  • Loading can be a bit slow

Download Aby Escape from Google Play.

Pitfall:Pitfall 2d

The main character wears an adventurer’s clothes,a pair of boots,a hat and carries a whip. And you guessed it wrong. No its NOT Indiana Jones, it is Pitfall Harry. And he likes to whip his enemies,  run, jump, duck, slide, etc. Pretty cool huh?

The game features incredible graphics which turn from 2d (sidescroller style) to 3d as you play.  That’s unique. And what’s more, it works on landscape mode. Combine this on a 7 inch tablet and I bet you can’t put it down.

And like other runner games this one also has unlockable stuff  at the store but requires diamonds, which you can earn by levelling up the character or via IAP (In-app purchases). You can even customize the character’s clothing with them

Pros:

  • Gorgeous graphics.
  • Powerups,upgrades,outfits.
  • Supports landscape.

Cons:

  • In app purchases are very expensive. and almost everything at the store needs Diamonds. No exit button.

Download Pitfall from Google Play.

Temple Run:

Temple Run
Is a post about runner games complete without Temple Runner? No I guess not. It doesn’t need an introduction to fans who have played this on iOs devices and the millions who have been playing it since its release on Google Play.  For those of you who haven’t heard of it, (really?) The character, whose name is Guy Dangerous, steals an idol from a temple and runs for his life from the Demon Monkeys.

You have 4 types of pickups (Mega Coin,Coin Magnet ,Invisibility,Boost ) which can be upgraded with coins for more effectiveness. You can also use the coins to unlock new characters, wallpapers.

Temple Run is the standard against which any running game should be compared! But sadly most of them are just clones of Temple Run.

Did you know that this game was created by a team of just 3 people? Awesome.

Pros: Many characters to unlock, upgrades, wallpapers. Missions

Cons: Ad supported.

Download Temple Run from Google Play.
