Less than a year after the launch of the Nexus 7, Google seems to have plans of upgrading the hardware for the 7 inch tablet manufactured by Asus.

Google Nexus 7
According to a report by Reuters, the current version of the Nexus 7 could be discounted, while the new one will be sold for $199.

The new version of the tablet will have

  • A higher screen resolution
  • A thinner bezel design
  • Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chip

The Qualcomm chip will replace the NVidia Tegra 3, as Qualcomm’s chip is both powerful and battery efficient. The Nexus 4 uses a Qualcomm chip too, so I wouldn’t be surprised if this rumor is true.

They also say this is the first time, Google’s device plans are revealed before the launch, hoping to trigger sales , as they expect to ship 6 to 8 Million units this year.
