Few weeks back we reviewed Huawei Ideos X5 U8800 Pro which is having an Android 2.3 Gingerbread as its mobile operating system. Even though Huawei did promised us a Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade soon and marketed the device as ICS ready, we were not so sure if the device will really get a ICS update soanytime soon as most manufacturers take lot of time to release ICS upgrade for their devices and even abandoning many devices depriving them of any Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade.
Putting our suspicions to rest, Huawei has quietly released an Android 4.0 ICS update for its Ideos X5 U8800 Pro smartphone. This ICS update is still to be pushed to your device as an OTA (on the Air) upgrade and needs to be downloaded from Huawei download page. If you are a novice user, you should avoid downloading and installing this update & should wait for the OTA update to be pushed on your Phone which hopefully will arrive soon.
If you are an advance user or don’t have the patience to wait for the OTA, you can download the firmware here. The file size is 356 MB and hence you must use your WiFi or Broadband connection to download it. We cant describe the exact procedure to flash the ICS firmware as we dont have the device with us now, but it should be pretty similar to flashing Firmware files on Android devices.
