Twitter app updated to bring a Holoistic UI and swipe to switch tabs for 4.0+ devices

The Twitter app on Android has never impressed me.

Twitter for Android

But this latest update could change my opinion, it has actually got some good features.
They have updated the UI of the app to blend in with the Holo theme of Android 4.0+ devices. It looks pretty and reminds me of the desktop version of Tweetdeck. Except for the Roboto font, of course.

And that’s not all, you no longer have to tap the buttons on the top bar to navigate between the sections of the app. You can just swipe the screem sideways to move to the next section . That’s a very good addition.

They have also enabled auto-complete for @usernames of your friends and #hashtag suggestions.Didn’t we have this already?

Now for the biggest surprise, you can actually install apps directly from tweets. I haven’t tested this personally though. Can anyone confirm this?

An official change-log:

We’ve got a brand new look and feel crafted for Android 4.0+. Navigate seamlessly between your favorite parts of Twitter with a simple swipe.
It’s easier to connect with friends and join conversations with @username and #hashtag suggestions that appear as you search or compose a Tweet
Discover, install and launch your favorite apps from Tweets
Other bug fixes and improvements

You can install Twitter on your Android device using the widget below:

I am not sure installing apps directly from a tweet is such a good idea. It is always better to read about the app in question before doing so.
