The recent update to Subway Surfers allowed us to surf the subways of Sydney, but was that all that was new?
Apparently not, this morning when I ran the game to check the Daily challenge, I was in for a surprise.
I go the following pop-up message in Subway Surfers.
I am quoting the text in the picture in case you have trouble seeing it:
Accidents Happen!
Hit “Save Me” to continue your run!Get another go with Keys!
The Inspector is still on your trail!Find Keys along the way!
Or in Mystery Boxes!
And we get five free keys when you tap the “get 5 free keys” button . Isn’t that nice?
The Keys are used in the same way as the Diamonds which we see in Temple Run 2, they will allow you to continue your run after you crash. Thus allowing you to give you a second chance to beat a high score or finish that annoying objective.
Why they didn’t include this change-log is unknown, or perhaps they wanted to surprise their fans.
You can find Keys in Mystery Boxes, or as pickups in your run. I tested this, and picked up a key when I played the game today and also one from the Mystery Box.
You can also buy Keys from the In-App-Store. Though you can’t buy them with In-game coins like hoverboards. So be very careful how you use the keys. I haven’t tested the use of the keys, but I am guessing it will cost you exponentially if you crash more than once in a game i.e, 1 key after the first crash, 2 after the second, maybe four after the third.
You can view the number of keys you have from the Score menu which appears after you finish a game.
If you haven’t installed the game yet, do so from the widget below.

Here is a tip, the Key to not run out of Keys is not using a Key.
Ok get serious! Real tip: You could always use a hoverboard to prevent crashes!
