Three days after LG’s Communications Director Ken Hong, spilled the beans that LG won’t be making the next Nexus phone, a report has emerged with details about the Nexus 9 tablet.
Meet Volantis, the 8.9 inch tablet from HTC.
The Volantis will be a premium Nexus tablet, with a significant hardware upgrade over the current line of Nexus tablets. It will be powered by a NVIDIA Logan 64-bit processor (Tegra K1), unlike the Nexus 7 2013 which uses a Snapdragon processor. The Tablet will sport an 8.9″ display which supports a resolution of 2048×1440 pixels, and has 2GB of RAM. The Nexus 9, will come in two variants: 16GB/32GB
The tablet sports an 8 Megapixel rear snapper with Optical Image Stabilization, and a 3 Megapixel shooter on the front.
Here are the specifications for the HTC Nexus 9
Display | 8.9" Display at 2048x1440 (281ppi) |

The tablet’s price tag is rumored to be $399 for the 16GB version, while the 32GB variant will cost $499. An LTE version is also reported to be priced at around $600.
Despite the specifications mentioning stereo front-facing speakers, they cannot be found in the image. The name Volantis may not be final either, it could be Volantis, or Flounder, or simply the Nexus 9. A notable feature missing from the specifications is the Operating System the tablet will run on. It is possible that Google may launch it with Android 5.0 (Lollipop?)
So we advise you to take it with a pinch of salt.
