LG Brazil has announced that the company will be releasing Android 4.4.2 KitKat update, for some of their older Optimus phones.
Granted that it isn’t the latest version of the OS, it is still wonderful to see that the company are pushing updates for devices that are older than 2 years, and one of the phones has just 768 MB RAM.
We have seen many OEMs denying updates for older devices, and even more recent ones stating hardware issues such as “low RAM” as an excuse. And most of the manufacturers only support device updates for just 18 months. So, LG are setting up a great standard here by providing updates for devices which were released over 24 months ago. (Are you listening Google and Samsung?)
LG Brazil announced the news on their official Facebook page.
The LG devices which will be getting the Android 4.4.2 updates are:
- LG Optimus G
- G Pro
- L7 II
- G Pro Lite
The LG G Pro will receive the update by the end of July, while the Optimus G will get it in August. The other two phones will receive the updates before the end of the year.
LG have also confirmed that the LG Optimus 4X HD and Optimus F5 will not be getting a taste of Android 4.4 KitKat.
