Game Review: Fatty offers tons of casual gaming fun

Thumbstar’s latest game, Fatty is about a big fat Blob who is addicted to junk food.

Fatty Android Game

Oh and he links to bounce. Boink!

Fatty may look similar to Tiny Wings which is a popular iOS game. But it has some unique gameplay.

The best part is the game controls, it uses one touch controls and all you have to do is time your jumps , er I mean ‘bounces’ properly.  This may take a little time to getting used to, but once you do it is fun. There are no levels, just randomly generated maps. You know what that means, unlimited fun.

Your main objective is to guide Fatty over the seemingly endless hills while feeding him junk food. If you don’t feed him he will become smaller and eventually die. I say smaller because he shrinks to a smaller than his usual size, so technically we can’t call him thin. There are other ways you could die, by eating healthy food, running into poison clouds and diet pill-wielding gym losers. It is hilarious.

You can collect various powerups such as the Basil (Jetpack) which allows Blob to fly and the Baron (goggles) which allows him to travel on the ground. They are time limited though. You can buy powerups from the in game store, but they cost quite a bit of coins.

Tip: Save up the coins and get the infinite Basil & Baron.

There are 3 different gameplay modes,  but you need to unlock the other two by playing the game.

The game has a good soundtrack and some voice effects. And there are achievements and leaderboard to inspire you to stick to the junk food diet.

Fatty was originally developed by Coatsink and published by Thumbstar Games.

Pros:

  • Amusing gameplay.
  • Achievements
  • Leaderboards
  • Missions
  • Powerups
  • Good music and soundtrack

Cons:

  • Could do with back button functions for pausing and exiting the game.
  • Needs more game modes, characters or maybe character customization.

You can pick up the game for $1 from:

Note: The game has optional IAPs for coins.
