SlimRoms are a popular custom version of Android, thanks to their slim download size and smooth performance.
They also have some unique features, and offer more customization, compared to AOSP.
SlimKat 4.4.4, based on Android KitKat, got a new weekly 6.2 update, which brings customizable Heads Up notifications & Quite Hours.
Heads Up notifications, made it’s debut during the Google I/O 2014, in the demo of Android L. After the source code for the Android L Preview was released to AOSP, the SlimRoms developers cranked up the notifications a bit with additional options.
Heads Up Notifications in SlimKat are expandable, i.e, you can view the full message in the pop-up, or just the sender’s information. You can swipe left on the notification to dismiss it completely, or swipe right to dismiss the heads up notification alone. It also has a snooze timer, which acts like a “Do Not Disturb” mode, and a Time out option, which allows you select the number of seconds, the notification will be displayed on the screen for. You can choose between 3 – 10 seconds, and also have a Never time out option.
SlimKat lets you select various options, which will trigger Quiet Hours. You can choose to enable Quiet Hours automatically when WiFi is disabled/enabled, at a particular time everyday. Here is the official video which explains both features:
