After the disastrous failed launch of the BlackBerry Messenger last month, the Canadian Company has unveiled the launch details for the app.
The official BBM app will be released today for both Android and iOS today.According to BlackBerry’s official blog, the Android version of BBM will be released on the Google Play Store and select Samsung App Stores today, in a few hours time.
Interestingly, the company is actually quite proud of the leaked versions of the app which “they blamed” was the cause for the delay of the official version being released.
Here is what they posted on their blog:
The demand for BBM on Android and BBM on iPhone continues to be amazing. About six million people signed up for information about BBM at BBM.com. As you know, in just seven hours, about one million Android users were using the unreleased version of BBM for Android. What you don’t know is that more than one million people have found creative ways to “side load” BBM on their iPhone. This is incredible.
And they have also included a few details about the roll out:
Users who have already signed up for the app can start using the service immediately. But for those of you who haven’t, you have a waiting time. Once you have installed the app on your device, you have to enter your email id to wait in line and you will be notified in an email to the address you provided, about when your account is activated.
We will keep you updated when the app goes live at the Play Store.
Update:
BBM for Android is available officially on Google Play Store here.
