The first smartphone from Micromax and Cyanogen backed YU brand has finally launched as Micromax YUREKA and is priced at a comptetive price of Rs 8,999 pitting it against the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3G model (which at the moment is not available for sale in India due to a High Court ruling which puts a ban on its sale in India).
Micromax YUREKA is a dual SIM smartphone which sports a 5.5 inch IPS display (1280 x 720p resolution, 267 ppi) with Corning Gorilla Glass protection and runs on 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 MSM8939 (ARM Cortex A53 – 4×1.5GHz + 4×1.0GHz) Octa-Core processor supported by Adreno 405 GPU and 2GB DDR3 RAM.
In terms of Operating system, it is powered by CyanogenMod OS 11 which is based on Android 4.4 (KitKat).
In terms of storage, it comes with 16 GB of internal storage along with support for Micro SD cards.
In terms of camera, it comes with a 13MP main rear camera with LED Flash & Sony Exmor RS IMX135 sensor, f/2.2 aperture and a 5MP front-facing camera with OmniVision 5648 sensor & 71-degree wide viewing angle.
It comes with 4G LTE support in addition to the 3G support. In terms of battery, it is powered by a decent 2500 mAh battery.
The smartphone will have unlockable boot loader and the warranty won’t be void even if the consumer roots the smartphone just like the Xiaomi smartphones.

Price and Availability
Micromax YUREKA will be available exclusively on Amazon India in Moonstone Grey color and is priced at Rs. 8,999. It will be sold via the same Xiaomi flash sales model which requires registration before the sale starts at a particular time and day. The registrations will start on December 19th at 2PM and the actual sales will start in second week of January 2015.
