Facebook has launched a new app called Facebook Lite, to help users in emerging markets to access their social networking website.
The app is only available in 8 Countries at the moment.

The specialty of Facebook Lite is that it is less than 1 MB in size, in fact it is just 252 kb to download. It has been designed to work fast on 2G networks, and consumes less data than the regular Facebook app. It works on devices running on Android 3.2 and above,
Once installed and you open the app, it looks like a mobile version (webview) of their website, so why should any one use it?
Because it comes with with Messenger, Notifications, and quite a few features that the mobile website doesn’t have.

If the app isn’t available in your country,you can download the APK from our Dev Host mirror, and install it using a file manager.
We tested it on one of our devices, and it seems to work pretty good. Facebook Lite will be listed as Lite in your app drawer.
