Lava has just announced a new Android smartphone LAVA Iris X8 for Rs. 8,999 targeted at entry level consumers in India. This price segment of Rs 8000 to Rs 10,000 is getting too competive with similar launches from other manufacturers like Xiaomi Redmi Note, Micromax Yu Yureka, Asus Zenfone 5 and many more. It will be interesting to see how these devices outperform each other when it comes to actual sales.
Lava Iris X8 sports a 5 inch HD IPS display with resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and is powered by 1.4 GHz Octa-Core processor ( CPU make though not specified, but we can safely assume it to a Mediatek Processor). The CPU is supported by 2GB RAM and runs on Android v4.4 KitKat with guaranteed upgrade to Android 5.0 Lollipop in future.
In terms of storage, it comes with 16 GB internal storage with support for micro SD cards.
It comes with dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) support letting you use two SIMs and also allow users to switch SIMs on the go without the need to restart the handset.
In terms of camera, it comes with 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash with BSI 3 sensor and a 3-megapixel front-facing camera. The main camera supports full-HD video recording and comes with features like Panorama, HDR mode, face detection, smile shot etc.
Iris X8 is powered by a 2500 mAh battery.

LAVA Iris X8 will be available in white & black colour for Rs. 8999 across all national retail stores and multi-brand outlets. Iris X8 will be available online exclusively on Flipkart.com starting 12:00 noon from 9th Feb.
