WhatsApp Messenger for Android has been updated to v2.12.45.
This update adds a new feature, which allows you to back up your chat to Google Drive.
This could be a very handy feature should you wish to move to a new phone. And if you wre unfortunate enough to lose your phone, you could still retrieve your chats from the Drive back up.

You can find the option to backup your chats to Google drive by navigating to the App’s Settings > Chat settings > Chat backup.
Tap the backup frequency option, and select how often you want the back up to be taken. This will enable you to choose a Google account. Grant it access to your Google profile, and you are good to go. You can also restrict back ups to be done only over WiFi, or let itĀ be taken underĀ WiFi/Cellular.
Don”t forget to hit the “Back up now” button under chat back up.
