Video streaming service Meerkat has released its Android app for all users.
The app was recently launched in a closed beta test, before it was made available to the general public.
You can download Meerkat for Android from the Google Play Store, without any invites. As you can see the app still carries the term “Beta” besides the name. This suggests that the app hasn’t hit its final version yet, and could have some minor issues. And it is your duty to be a good citizen and report it to the developers.
The Meerkat app lets you stream live video from your phone, to your followers on micro-blogging website Twitter. Just hit the stream button and you are good to go. Users who use the app will be notified via push notifications, when one of the accounts they follow live streams a video.
You can also comment and interact with the video within the app.
Since Twitter’s own livestreaming app Periscope isn’t available on Android yet, we can expect Meerkat to run riot.
Note: The app lets you save your streams, but the service itself does not retain them.

The app should run on all devices running on Android 4.2 or above.
