Motorola has officially launched the Moto G 3rd Gen in India.
The phone sports a 5-inch HD Display with 294 PPI, and Corning Gorilla Glass 3.It is powered by a 1.4 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 (MSM8916) processor with Adreno 306 400 MHz GPU, with RAM 1GB/2G variants, which comes with 8GB/16GB of internal storage respectively.
As an added bonus, the Moto G 3rd Gen also supports up to 32GB of expandable memory via a micro SD card.The Moto G 3rd Gen features a 13 Megapixel camera with the same sensor as on the Google Nexus 6, an f/2.0 aperture, Multilayer IR filter, dual LED CCT Flash.
The aperture allows for taking better snaps in low light conditions, while the Infrared filter reduces glare, and the color balancing flash provides natural colour tones. The phone is also selfie friendly with a 5 megapixel front camera with a wide angle lens.

The Moto G 3rd Gen reportedly packs a long lasting 2470 mAh battery, which is touted to give an all day battery life, and is 20% better than Moto G 2nd Gen’s backup. The Moto G 3rd Gen is a 4G LTE enabled phone and supports Dual SIM cards ( GSM + LTE ). The phone has an SAR Value of 0.905 W/kg at the head, and 1.069 W/kg at the body.
The phone runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and comes with “zero bloatware”, and has some unique features like:
- Moto Display – A battery friendly technology, which uses white pixels to display the time and displays notificatations, while the screen is off. You can tap the icon to get more information about the notification, and swipe it to open the app directly.
- Quick Capture – This is a gesture, which is enabled by shaking the phone, which in turn activates the camera, allowing the user to take fast photos, within milliseconds.
- Chop Twice – This gesture allows the user to turn on the flashlight, and also turn it off in the same way.
The Moto G 3rd Gen comes in two colours: Black and White, and users an buy various Moto shells which come in all colours of the rainbow, as well as flip covers.
The phone is also IPX7 water resistant, up to 3 feet of water and up to 30 minutes.
Pricing and availability:
While the Moto G 1st Gen was priced at 13,999, and the Moto G 2nd Gen was launched for Rs. 12,999, the 3rd Gen phone in the series has been priced incredibly well.
The Moto G 3rd Gen has been priced at Rs.11,999 for the 1GB RAM variant, and at Rs. 12,999 for the 2GB RAM variant with 16GB storage. The Moto G 3rd Gen will be available in India, from midnight today, i.e., 28th July exclusively on Flipkart.
