Yesterday, Xiaomi unveiled its new custom version of Android, MIUI 7, in India.
While that is the global ROM for its devices sold outside of China, the company has a separate ROM for its home country.
The MIUI 7 Chinese Developer ROM, (beta) was released on August 13th in China, and is now available for download. It has the same features as the global ROM released yesterday, but supports Chinese network bands as well.
Note: The interface of the ROM will be in Chinese.
MIUI 7 is based on Android KitKat for all Xiaomi devices, except for the Xiaomi Mi 4i, and the Redmi 2 for which MIUI 7, is supposedly built on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
Download MIUI 7 Chinese Developer version from the official servers. ( The update is around 422MB in size for the Mi4). The latest firmware is MIUI 7 version 5.8.13.
The Global MIUI 7 firmware update will be released on Monday, August 24th. So, I advise readers who are using a Xiaomi phone as theor primary device to wait for the Global ROM.
