Xiaomi Mi 4 fans, rejoice! The most popular custom version of android is here for your device.
Yes, it’s true. Xiaomi Mi 4 now has official support for Cyanogenmod 12.1.
Naturally, just like most devices, the Mi 4 just has Nightly versions of CM 12.1, which you cab download from the official pages linked below:
Things to remember:
You will need to install a custom recovery on the Mi 4, we have a user friendly guide for flashing TWRP. Copy the ROM + GAPPS files to the phone. Perform a Factory Reset, after which Wipe the cache and flash the files, and reboot.
Download Cyanogenmod 12.1 for Xiaomi Mi 4 (Cancro)
Download Google Apps for CM 12.1.
Note: I have not tested the ROM, as I’m waiting for Xiaomi to release the MIUI 7 Global Developer ROM today. Reports says that CM 12.1 has no known bugs.
Cyanogenmod comes with root available at the developer options, which you to manually enable.
I think it’s wonderful to have official support for Cyanogenmod for the Xiaomi Mi 4. This will surely unleash the full potential of the device, which is otherwise slightly hampered by MIUI. And since Xiaomi hasn’t bothered to update its deveice to Lollipop, even in MIUI 7, it is much better to have the latest version of Android on the flagship phone.
