Meizu has just announced its flagship device MX5 in India. MX5 is priced at Rs. 19,999, a Snapdeal exclusive and to be sold via the infamous flash sale model. Meizu is already selling m1 note and m2 note smartphones in India through Amazon, but this one is the first flagship device from them for Indian market.
MX5 sports a 5.5-inch full HD Super AMOLED display along with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 Protection and is powered by 2.2 GHz MediaTek Helio X10 (MT6795T) Octa-Core 64-bit processor and PowerVR G6200 GPU. The device comes with 3 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage without any expandable storage support via microsd cards (Even though 32 GB/ 64 GB variants exist, but they are not yet announced for India).
It is powered by Flyme OS 4.5 which is based on Android 5.0 (Lollipop) and comes with dual SIM support. In terms of camera, it sports a 20.7 MP rear camera with dual tone LED Flash, Laser Auto focus, Sony IMX220 Exmor RS BSI sensor, 4K video recording and 5 MP front-facing camera.
The device weighs ~149g and is 7.6 mm thick. It comes with support for 4G LTE (TD-LTE / LTE-FDD) / 3G HSPA+ , WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n (2.4/5 GHz), Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS. In terms of battery, it is powered by a 3150 mAh battery.
Even though Meizu plans to open more than 40 customer service centres across 20 cities, we are yet to hear any timelines for this. Unless the service centres are set-up, it may be very difficult for the consumers to buy these devices as after sales service is a major concern for most of Indian consumers.
