Android 5.x to 5.1.1 Lollipop has a serious security vulnerability, which allows bypassing the Lockscreen

If you thought Android is safe after the Stagefright vulnerabilities have been fixes, allow me to correct you.

Android Lockscreen vulnerability found

A serious security vulnerability, has been discovered in Android 5.x to 5.1.1 Lollipop, which allows an attacker to bypass the Lockscreen.

Yes, the very security code which was thought to offer fool-proof security, apparently can be side stepped with a rather simple trick, found by the University of Texas.

What’s ridiculous is the trick which bypasses the lockscreen, Hit the source link below to see what I mean. Hint: It is based on entering a random long string of characters, and opening the camera app, which is then crashed. This allows the attacker full access to the homescreen and the contents of the phone.

And this works even on encrypted devices. But fret not, the Google Android Developers were notified by the security researchers, and the Mountain View company has patched the issue in Android 5.1.1 Build LMY48M.

Proof of concept video:

For those who are on non-patched versions of Lollipop, switch to a pin or pattern lock, as they are completely safe.
