Boxer, the email application which comes with Cyanogen OS 12 an above (for One Plus One, YU devices, etc), has a new parent company.
The email app developers, were the target of acquisition by the renowned virtualization software maker, VMware.
The deal has apparently gone through, and the acquisition will take place next year. VMware is reportedly planning to integrate its enterprise-grade mobile device management service, AirWatch into Boxer.
Reports also reveal that, VMware’s parent company EMC, is itself going to be acquired by leading PC OEM, Dell. So, technically Boxer will be owned by the latter. The email application has been quite a popular one, and partnered with Cyanogen Inc, and its vision to replace all of Google’s apps with third party ones.
We are not sure about the future of Boxer in Cyanogen OS, but I think we can safely assume that it won’t be hindered in any way.
