Xiaomi has announced the release of the MIUI 7 Global Stable version today.

MIUI 7 Global Stable Version Roll out

The firmware which is still based on Android KitKat, was in beta test for the last couple of months.

It is not anything out of the ordinary, though Xiaomi claims it has drastically improved the performance and battery life. It’s just basically a bunch of bug fixes with very few new features included.

Here’s the list of devices which will get the MIUI 7 update:

  • Mi 3
  • Mi 4
  • Mi Pad
  • Mi Note
  • Redmi 1S 3G
  • Redmi Note 4G
  • Redmi 2
  • Redmi 2 Prime

The update is rolling out already, and should reach all users soon. But you can also manually download the update from the official website linked below.

Xiaomi is not in the least interested in updating its devices to Lollipop, and I seriously doubt if it will ever update them to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. So, we will have to rely on custom ROMs for the same.

If you really want Lollipop on your Xiaomi device, you should try flashing Cyanogenmod 12.1 on it. Our guide is for installing the ROM on the Xiaomi Mi 4, but the steps are the same for the Mi 3. You can also follow the procedure for any of the other devices, providing you find a ROM version compatible with your device.
