Gionee has launched a new phone in its Marathon series, in India. The new device is the Gionee Marathon M5 Plus, and yes it is a phablet.
The M5 Plus sports a 6.0-inch 1080P Full HD AMOLED display, and runs on Amigo 3.1, based on Android 5.1 Lollipop. The phone is the first in India, to use the new Gionee smiles logo.
The Marathon M5 Plus is powered by an octa-core Mediatek MT6753 Chipset processor clocked at 1.3GHz, with 3GB of RAM. In terms of storage, the phone has 64GB of internal storage, and supports upto 128GB of expandable memory.
The main lens on the M5 Plus is a 13 megapixel rear camera with LED Flash, while the selfie camera is a 5 megapixel snapper. The highlight of the Gionee Marathon M5 Plus is the mammoth 5020 mAh Li- Po battery, which has a Dual Chip for fast-charging. Speaking of which, the device does have USB Type C for charging and data transfers.
There is a front facing fingerprint scanner in the form of an embedded home button. The phone has a full metal design and still has a slim look. The power key and the volume rocker buttons are on the right edge, while the back panel houses a single speaker grill. 0Connectivity wise, the phone supports 4G LTE with Voice over LTE, CDMA, etc, and has Dual SIM card slots.

The specifications and the incredibly high price make us wonder, how well this phone would do in a budget oriented market like India.
