Benchmarking website AnTuTu, has released its latest Top 10 best phones for May 2016. And it comes without a surprise that the best performing phones, were those powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor.

Best Phones May 2016

This comes as great news for the chipset manufacturer, which saw a disastrous 2015, no thanks to its Snapdragon 810 SoC causing overheating issues, which led OEMs to underclock their devices.

And here is the top 10 best performing phones for May 2016, ranking from the best.

  1. Vivo XPlay 5 Elite – 138706
  2. LeEco Max 2 – 138026
  3. Lenovo Zuk Z2 Pro – 136853
  4. Xiaomi Mi 5 – 136773
  5. Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge – 134599
  6. Apple iPhone 6S – 133781
  7. Apple iPhone SE – 131401
  8. LG G5 – 128232
  9. Meizu Pro 6 – 96756
  10. Honor V8 – 94164

Of the lot, the weakest is the Huawei Honor V8, which managed to clock around 94000 points, and is powered by an in-house Kirin 955m and 4GB RAM.

Ranking a place above it, is the Meizu Pro 6, with 96000 points, thanks to the 4GB RAM and MediaTek Helio X25 chipset, which also makes it the only Mediatek powered device in this list.

Sitting at the 8th place, is the LG G5 with 4GB RAM and Snapdragon 820. The power of the Snapdragon SoC is noticeable, as the gap between the 8th and 9th ranks is nearly a massive 34000 points.

Apple continues its good run with the iPhone 6S, and the recently launched iPhone SE, both being powered by an A9 processor with 2GB RAM. The iPhone 6S clocked just under 134000 points, while the the SE managed a little over 131000 points, at 6th and 7th places in the list.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge with a Snapdragon 820 + 4GB RAM combo, managed to score a very impressive 134600 points, and sits at 5th place. It is unclear how the Exynos 8890 variant fared.

The 4th place was claimed by Xiaomi Mi 5, which scored 136773 points, thanks to the SD 820/4GB RAM combo. It was narrowly outdone by 3rd placed Lenovo Zuk Z2 Pro, with a score of  136853 clocked by the 6GB RAM/SD 820 combination.

The second and first places are the real shockers here. The LeEco Le Max 2 managed to get a 138000 score, with the power of Qualcomm’s finest again, the Snapdragon 820, and 6GB of RAM. The first place crown belonged to the Vivo XPlay 5 Elite which outscored its runner up by just 700 points, with a score of 138706, with a similar hardware spec of 6GB RAM and Qualcomm Snapdragon 820.

Of course, this doesn’t mean these are the very best devices in the world, as no benchmark is accurate, when it comes to testing the device’s real life performance. But still, it should give you a basic idea of which phone and processor is flagship material. Speaking of which, it was a bit disappointing to not see the HTC 10 in the list, which is probably due to the fact that it only began shipping last month.
