The latest distribution numbers from Google’s dashboard reveals that Android Marshmallow now runs on 15.2% of devices, 10 months after its debut, in October 2015. This is a very slight improvement from last month, to be more specific its just 1.9% higher than the 13.3% total Android 6.0 had in July.
Android 5.0 and 5.1 Lollipop sum up to 35.5, with a 0.4% improvement from the 35.1% stats, from a month ago. Android 4.4 KitKat however saw its numbers drop by 0.9% from 30.1% to 29.2%.
Android 4.3 Jelly Bean dropped from 17.8% to 16.7%, Ice Cream Sandwich dropped by 0.1%, while its predecessor Gingerbread dropped by 0.2%.
With Android 7.0 Nougat expected to be released this month, you would have expected Marshmallow to be #1, but the sad fact that it is fourth in the list, behind Jelly Bean, which was released more than three years ago, in 2012-13, shows just how badly Android suffers from fragmentation.
