Samsung has officially announced the Note 7 recall in the US. The South Korean company has begun exchanging faulty Note 7 devices, and you can either get a new Note 7 or a Galaxy S7 or a Galaxy S7 Edge. If you want to get a refund, Samsung is cool with it too.
The company has also launched an online IMEI checker to help users identify faulty phones. You can visit this page on Samsung’s portal, and enter your device’s IMEI or serial number in the text box, to check if your Note 7 is one of the devices, has a battery which is prone to overheating.
You can find the IMEI or Serial number by navigating to Apps > Settings > About Phone or General Management > Status > IMEI information or Serial number, or you could check the back of your phone too. Alternatively you can check for a black box on the bar code label, which may or may not have a blue S, like the one seen in our previous article.
And it is worth noting that this Note 7 Exchange program is only for devices which were sold before September 15th. For more details please refer to Samsung’s official website.
