Xiaomi and Google launched the Mi A2 at an even in Spain yesterday, but some features went discreetly unannounced. One of these was the fact that the the Mi A2 does not have a headphone jack.
Is it surprising? No, it is shocking, isn’t? The Mi A2 Lite on the other hand, which Xiaomi termed an “entry-level” phone, has a 3.5mm audio jack. Wow, really Xiaomi?
Mi A2 does not have a headphone jack, what gives?
The Mi A1, was touted as one of the best audio-centric phones, with a dedicated DAC which provided for an excellent experience for music fans. But, the Mi A2 does not have a headphone jack. Why the U-Turn Xiaomi? Please don’t say courage.
So, instead users will want to use the USB Type-C to audio adapter which is included in the box. This is clearly mentioned on Xiaomi’s official website.
Mi A2 does not have a microSD card slot (No hybrid sim, no dedicated card slot)
Oh, and it does get worse. Does the Mi A2 have a microSD card slot? What do you think? The answer is no. Again, this is feature which is included in the Mi A2 Lite. In fact, the A2 Lite has a dedicated microSD card slot. The Mi A2 does not have a microSD card slot at all, not even a hybrid SIM tray. It is clear that Xiaomi has cut some corners, to make the device affordable. But we think these decisions are terrible.
Xiaomi constantly compared the Mi A2 with the Samsung Galaxy A8, and claiming it is superior in every way. If that wasn’t unethical, the fact that the company hid the fact that the Mi A2 does not have a headphone jack and a dedicated microSD card slot, makes it even worse.
If having dual SIM cards and a microSD card at the same time means something to you, we think you are better off getting the ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M1, over the Mi A2. And do you know what else it has unlike the Mi A2? Good guess, the headphone jack.
