Xiaomi is set to officially unveil the second generation of its gaming phone i.e. Xiaomi Black Shark 2 in China on October 23. The rumours about this gaming smartphone have been floating on the web for quite some time and with the official launch date announcement, it may gain more steam. The CEO of Xiaomi Black Shark made the announcement about the Oct 23 launch from his official Weibo handle releasing the launch teaser which confirms the date.
Xiaomi Black Shark 2 is already listed on Chinese certification agency TENAA revealing all the hardware specifications along with renders of the device. Based on TENAA listing, Xiaomi Black Shark 2 sports a 5.99-inch 18:9 display ( resolution of 2160 × 1080) powered by 2.8GHz octa-core processor along with 6GB / 8GB of RAM. It comes with 64GB / 128GB / 256GB of internal storage and runs on Android 8.0 (Oreo) based operating system. It is backed by a 4,000mAh battery (just like its predecessor). The phone’s dimensions are 160 x 75.26 x 8.7 mm.
In terms of camera, it features a dual camera module at rear consisting of 20MP + 12MP camera sensors while on the front, there is a 20MP snapper for selfies & video calls. There is no headphone jack and a USB type C port is provided, both for listening to music and charging.
In terms of pricing, the first-generation Black Shark phone was priced at CNY 2,999 for the 6GB RAM variant and at CNY 3,499 for the 8GB RAM variant. We can expect similar pricing for the Black Shark 2, but it may be restricted only to China as was the case with the first generation Black Shark.
