Samsung has officially announced the Infinity Flex Display, which we reported about a few days back. The design however, is different than what we thought it could be.

The Infinity Flex Display was designed to fit a larger screen on to a phone. Samsung says that a 7.3-inches screen can be added to a phone, which can still fit in a pocket.

In the video teaser in this Tweet, you can see the Infinity Flex Display foldable phone with 2 screens, which transforms into a tablet.

We took some screenshots of the device from the video, to highlight how the Infinity Flex Display looks like. Basically, the new design has two screens, a front screen and a back screen, which unfolds into a single display.

Here is a prototype of the Infinity Flex Display design, that was also shown off on stage. Ignore the box around the device, which is probably to hide the design. This is a phone, which Justin Denison, Samsung’s VP of Mobile Marketing, then unfolds to reveal a tablet size screen.

The Samsung Infinity Flex Display phone features a 7.3-inch main screen with a resolution of 2152 x 1536 pixels, with 420 DPI, and a Cover Display which is a 4.5-inch screen with 420 DPI and a resolution of 1960 x 840 pixels.

The company has also announced a new multi-tasking user interface for the foldable phone, called OneUI, which focuses on one-handed usage.

It remains to be seen, when this hybrid phone-tablet device will be launched by the South Korean electronics giant, but it has been rumoured that the upcoming Galaxy S10 will not sport the Infinity Flex Display design.

Hopefully, this trend will revive the Android Tablet market, which has been quite unremarkable for several years, leaving most users to either choose between the Apple iPad or the Microsoft Surface for their large screen needs.
