ASUS has released the Android 10 Update for Zenfone 5Z. And by doing so, the company has beat some big names including Samsung, in updating a previous generation phone.
In case you missed it, the company had announced an Android Q beta program a few months ago. Here’s what you can expect in the latest firmware.
Android 10 Update for Zenfone 5Z features
Aside from the OS version being updated to Android 10, the firmware brings support for Google Play system update. So, we could expect faster updates in the future directly from Google, though we believe these will only be for Android Security Patches.
ASUS has removed some bloatware from the Zenfone 5Z. To be more specific, the following apps/options are no longer available with the Android 10 Update for Zenfone 5Z.
- Page Marker
- ZeniMoji
- Selfie Master
- Beauty Live
- Kids Mode
- Easy Mode weather animation setting
- AI charging
- WebStorage
- Go2Pay
- Report Location in Safeguard
- Yandex cloud option in File Manager
The company has removed Twin app support for games like Arena of Valor, PUBG, Vainglory, and Injustice 2, possibly to prevent cheaters and avoid players from being banned.
The update adds support for Canada Public Mobile APN setting, and lets you modify the ASUS APN setting. The “Themes and Mobile Manager” have been moved to the Advanced Settings section.
The version number of the Android 10 Update for Zenfone 5Z is 100.04.44.98, and it’s available for devices with the model number ZS620KL. ASUS says the update is rolling out in batches and that it could take a few days for users to get the OTA. The full firmware is not available on the official support portal yet, but should be added soon.
You can manually check for updates by navigating to Settings > System > System Update.
