Xiaomi has begun rolling out the MIUI 11.0.4.0 Update for Redmi K20 aka the Mi 9T. This comes as a surprise, since the device is expected to be updated to the newer version of the company’s custom Android skin, MIUI 12.
But, the device is still on MIUI 11, to be precise the full version number is 11.0.4.0.QFJINXM. It has been bumped up from 11.0.3.0.
What’s new in the MIUI 11.0.4.0 Update for Redmi K20
We got the update on our device this morning. Here’s what the release notes say.
The update ships with the May 2020 Android Security Patch. Updating the phone to the May Security Patch at the end of June is quite terrible. Once again this is a bi-monthly security update, the previous one was the March Security Update which arrived in April. It is sad to see Xiaomi treat the device like an average mid-range phone.
In addition to this, the change log for the MIUI 11.0.4.0 Update for Redmi K20 says that it brings “Increased System Security”. This probably refers to the security tool that’s built into MIUI 11.
The MIUI 11.0.4.0 Update for Redmi K20 weighs about 264MB in size. If you haven’t gotten the notification for it yet, check for it manually. To do so, open the Settings app and navigate to About Phone > System Update > Check for Updates.
