The Nothing Phone Glyph Interface has been revealed in a video by popular YouTuber, Marques Brownlee aka MKBHD. Here’s how they work.

Nothing Phone Glyph Interface

The device has dual rear cameras, which we saw in a previous article. The front panel of the phone is home to a selfie lens placed in the top left corner of the screen.

The transparent back cover design of the Nothing Phone isn’t the coolest part of the device, it’s what’s underneath the glass. There are over 900 LEDs on the back, these are placed around the cameras, the wireless charging pad, and the stripes at the top and the bottom of the rear cover, forming the Glyph lights. These are used as notification LEDs, but they can do more.

Nothing Phone Glyph app

The video shows us the Nothing Phone Glyph Interface, it is an app that allows you to customize the behaviour of the lights. You can select some ringtones and notification sounds, and the Nothing Phone lights will glow when you get a call, or notifications arrive. The light patterns match the audio by pulsing rhythmically. The Glyph lights can be used like an LED flash for photography.

When you plug in a charger, the stripe at the bottom lights up partially, like a charging animation. The lights don’t stay on all the time, but you shake the phone slightly, they will light up. If you record videos, a small red coloured light stays on to indicate recording mode.

The Nothing Phone doesn’t seem to have a 3.5mm headphone jack, and has a USB Type-C port at the bottom, next to a speaker grille. The device will support reverse wireless charging.
