The Android 14 beta update for Nothing Phone 1 could be coming soon. The OEM says that it has received the new software from Google.
The brand is one of the earliest to get its hand on the firmware. Up until now, Google’s Pixel series are the only devices that have got access to the Android 14 beta versions.
Android 14 beta update for Nothing Phone 1
Nothing has already started working on the new software. The company’s CEO, Carl Pei, also dropped a hint that the Android 14 beta update for Nothing Phone 1 could arrive in the near future. It is a bit surprising to see the company begin testing the next-gen OS, as it was criticized for being slow in adopting Android 13.
For context, the Nothing Phone 1 was launched in July 2022, and ran on Android 12 out of the box. The brand began testing the beta version of Android 13 late last year, while confirming it would provide the OTA for the firmware in 2023. It had explained that the OS’ code was being rewritten from scratch.
The Android 13 update for Nothing Phone 1 arrived with the Nothing OS 1.5 update in February 2023. It remains to be seen whether the company will do any better with Android 14 update. We expect that the Nothing beta program could continue at least for a month or so after Google announces the stable version of the OS in Fall 2023.
