Google Play Newsstand gets a widget for headlines, mini cards & more

It is not Update Wednesday yet, but Google have  already updated one of their apps today.

Google Play Newsstand

And it is none other than the Google Play Newsstand app.

While it is by no means, a major overhaul, the update does bring some handy features, most notable of which is the widget. You can read the new headlines right from your homescreen.

You can now view more headlines on your screen with the new Mini Cards option. To access it, tap the menu button on the top right corner, and select mini cards.

Apart from this Google has also added the following options to the app,

  • Organize magazine issues (where available) by publication date
  • Translate news sources instantly
  • Support for RTL languages

If the app came pre-installed on your device, just update it from your device’s Play Store app.
