A new leaked image of the Huawei Mate 9 has appeared on Weibo. According to the photo, the Huawi Mate 9 will be powered by an in-house Kirin 960 Soc,
The leak also suggests that the Mate 9 will have dual 20 megapixel cameras. In comparison, the Huawei P9 has dual 12MP Leica cameras.
We are a bit skeptical about the leak for three more reasons:
- The fingerprint scanner on the back panel looks a bit odd.
- The physical homebutton on the front panel makes no sense, if there is a rear placed fingerprint scanner. In fact, the leaked image looks awfully similar to the previous leak (except for the cameras and the home button)
- The camera module looks strangely familiar. And looking at the most recent flagships from Huawei, the Huawei P9, and the Honor 8, have their cameras placed on the top right corner. We think that the Mate 9 would follow suit.
That being said, this is a leak, and these things tend to go wrong quite often, so take it with a pinch of salt.
There is no official ETA for the Huawei Mate 9 yet.
