Amazon is one the brands that started challenging the big players in tablet market when Apple iPad dominated the tablet market in terms of market share. Today Amazon has announced it’s new 7 and 8.9 inch Kindle Fire HDX tablets which are a major upgrade over existing Kindle Fire HD tablets.
The new Kindle Fire tablet by Amazon named as Kindle Fire HDX comes in two different sizes of 7 and 8.9 inch. The device is powered by Amazon own customized updated version of Android i.e Fire operating system, version 3.0 known as “Mojito”.
In terms of Hardware the device is powered by a 2GHz quad-core processor from Qualcomm and with a new HDX display (pixel density of 339 ppi) and 4 million pixels.The device is ~one-third lighter (the 8.9-inch tablet) compared to the existing Kindle Fire device.
In terms of Battery life, Kindle Fire HDX supports up to 11 hours of mixed use and 17 hours of reading time.

Price and Availability
In United States, Amazon will start shipping the 7 inch WiFi only model starting October 15th, whereas the 8.9 inch model will start shipping from November 7th. The 4G models for each size will start shipping one month later than its WiFi Model.

- 7-inch models starts at $229 (for 16GB) and $329 for an LTE-compatible device.
- 8.9-inch: Starts at $349 and $479 for the LTE-version.
