Amazon has launched the 11th generation of its popular eReader Worldwide, including in India. Say hello to the Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition.
The device has a 6.8-inches glare-free display with 17 LEDs. It is 10% brighter than the previous gen eReader and has a pixel density of 300 PPI.
Amazon has added support for warm light which is adjustable, so you can set it to use white light or warm amber. The device can be set to change the light automatically. The eReader supports the following eBook formats: AZW3 and AZW (Amazon Kindle), TXT, PDF, MOBI, PRC, HTML, DOC, DOCX, JPEG, GIF, PNG, PMP, AAX.
The devices support the new interface that Amazon rolled out to the previous generation Kindles. It includes a navigation bar at the bottom of the screen, with shortcuts to go to the home page and the library. Additionally, a new swipe gesture is available. Swipe down from the top of the screen to view the settings panel.
In terms of storage, the Kindle Paperwhite has 8GB of on-board storage and offers 20% faster page turns. Amazon claims that the device’s battery lasts up to 10 weeks, on a single charge. And for the first time in the series, the Kindle has a USB Type-C charging port. It can fully charge the device in 2.5 hours, if you use a 9W charging adapter. Connectivity-wise, the eReader supports Wi-Fi Dual band 2.4GHz and 5GHz. The Kindle has been IPX8 rated to be waterproof. It weighs 205g, and measures 124.6 x 174.2 x 8.1 mm.

Amazon has priced the Kindle Paperwhite at Rs. 13,999, while the Paperwhite Signature Edition costs Rs. 17,999. Pre-orders for the eReaders start today, and the Kindle Paperwhite will start shipping from October 27, while the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition will shipping from November 4. Buyers can avail Kindle credits worth Rs. 500, when pre-ordering the device, and redeem the credits while purchasing eBooks on the Kindle Store.
