Xiaomi has begun rolling out the Android 10 Update for Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7S in India. This is the stable version of the firmware.
We received the update on our Redmi Note 7 last night, and here’s what you need to know about the operating system.
What’s new in the Android 10 Update for Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7S
The download size of the update weighs about 2GB. Unfortunately, the update is still based on MIUI 11, and not on MIUI 12 that was announced recently. That update will arrive at a later time.
The Android 10 Update for Redmi Note 7 bumps the firmware version to from MIUI 11.0.9.PFGINXM to MIUI 11.0.2.0.QFGINXM, which may look odd at first glance, but the change in the letter indicates the jump from Android 9 Pie to Android 10.
The firmware brings the June 2020 Security Patch for the devices. The App lock feature is now available for all apps on your phone. The Android 10 Update for Redmi Note 7 also adds a new music card in the App vault. The change log does not go into further details which the update adds.
If you have not received the update notification, you can check for it manually by navigating to the Settings > About Phone > System Update screen. Meanwhile, Xiaomi is planning to launch the Redmi Note 9 soon in India.
