The Android 12 Update for Galaxy A42 has been released by Samsung. The mid-range device from 2020, was intially launched with Android 10 out of the box, before it was updated to Android 11, and now gets the latest and greatest from Google’s mobile operating system.
What’s new in the Android 12 Update for Galaxy A42
The new firmware is based on Samsung’s latest custom Android skin, OneUI 4.0. It brings new widget styles, overhauled Stock apps, improved Dark Mode, Always-on display. The personal assistant app, Bixby, has also been reworked. Other changes under the hood include all the goodies from Android 12 including Material You design, Privacy Dashboard, Privacy Indicators, Approximate Location Sharing, Accessibility improvements, etc.
The update does not include the latest fixes from Google’s monthly Android Security Bulletin, and instead ships with the December 2021 Security Patch.
SamMobile reports that the update is currently available in Poland, but is expected to be rolled out widely in the coming weeks. The OTA is being seeded in batches, if you have not received it yet, you may check for it manually by navigating to the Settings > Software Update screen, and tapping on the Download and Install button.
