ASUS has released the Android 12 Update for ROG Phone 3. The gaming phone was launched in August 2020, with Android 10 out of the box.
What’s new in the Android 12 Update for ROG Phone 3
The firmware brings a new design for the Quick Settings panel, notification tray, and volume panel. The update includes features from Android 12 such as the privacy dashboard, on-screen acess indicators for the camera, microphone, clipboard access, approximate location access, and microphone access.
The option to edit the Quick Settings layout has been removed from the Display settings. SIP calling has been removed from the ASUS Phone app, because Android 12 does not support the feature.
The launcher app has a new widget pane design. The hotseat app icons have been removed from the Overview page, and the screenshot option’s position has been adjusted. The software update replaces the ASUS Safeguard with Android 12 Emergency SOS.
Several system apps have been redesigned including the Mobile Manager, Contacts, Phone, File Manager, Calculator, Clock, Gallery, Weather, Sound recorder, Settings, Data Transfer, Local backup, Setup wizard, and System update apps. The Console design in the Armoury Crate has been updated.
According to the release notes published by ASUS, the firmware version number of the Android 12 Update for ROG Phone 3 is 31.0210.0210.230. It is available for the device with the model number ROG Phone 3 ZS661KS.
