Honor has officially announced, that it has begun rolling out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA Update for the Honor 5X. The update brings EMUI 4.0 for the affordable handset.
Here are the new features that the new firmware brings.
Google’s smart assistant feature, Now on Tap,the battery saving feature, Doze mode, are now available thanks to the upgrade to Marshmallow. Additionally, users will be able to use various commands for searching, playing music, and more.
The Android 5.0 update for the Honor 5X adds advanced volume controls, which is basically the volume control panel you get by pressing the volume up or down button, to adjust the media, ringer and alarm volumes.
There is a new Open Apps menu, which is a redesigned recents menu, where you can scroll through the list of apps you have opened in the background, switch to any app, or close them. You can also close all the opened apps with a single tap.
The EMUI 4.0 update for the Honor 5X adds three off-screen gesture controls. The first is to open your music app, to do so, simply draw an M on your screen (when it is in standby/sleep). The second is double tap to wake the phone, and the third is to mute incoming calls, timers, alarms by simply flipping the phone. your phone.
An interesting new feature in EMUI 4.0 is the customization of the navigation buttons of the phone. You can edit the order of the back, home and recents menu buttons, and also add a notification panel to the navigation bar.
You can use Drag Actions on your Honor 5x, to quickly access notifications, and shortcuts. Drap down from the top left for notifications, and from the right for shortcuts.
The update also includes a One-Hand mode, which makes it easy for you to use the Honor 5X in one hand. You can access it by swiping left or right on the navigation bar.
Additional features in the update is pinch on open screen to display hidden apps, pull down on the home screen to search, quickly add apps to folders. The interface of EMUI 4.0 now displays the battery percentage next to the battery icon.
If you haven’t received the update yet, you can manually check for it using the Settings app, and selecting the Update tab.
