Sony has released the first Xperia Beta update based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
The build number for this firmware is 23.5.A.0.486, and is available for the Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact and the Z2.
These updates are based on the December 2015 security patch from Google, instead of the patch which was released in February (March for Nexus devices). The firmware brings Camera 2.0.0 UI which which includes manual/video mode switching by swiping, brightness controls and more.
The Xperia Beta also adds a new version of the launcher which features a search option in the app drawer. A notable absentee amongst the launcher fratures. is the options for Classic and Modern layouts. Stamina mode has also been done away with, and so is adoptable storage.
Early reports suggest that the Xperia beta is pretty snappy in terms of performance. Hopefully, Sony will release the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for all Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact and Z2 devices soon.
