Google has announced the Android Distribution Numbers for August-September 2015, and the latest stats show a slight improvement in Lollipop’s usage.
According to the chart seen above, Android 5.0 and 5.1 Lollipop, together boast 21% of usage share.
Android KitKat saw a drop of just 0.1%, while Jelly Bean dropped from 33.6% to 31.8%. Ice Cream Sandwich’s usage fell from 4.1% to 3.7%, and Gingerbread’s usage dropped from 4.6% to 4.1%.
Froyo’s numbers are finally dropping, after being static at 0.3% for a long time. The Android 2.2 operating system now has just 0.2%, and is on the verge of being omitted from the distribution numbers.
Rumour has it that Android 6.0 Marshmallow will be released later this month, as the two Nexus phones from LG and Huawei are touted for launch. If that happens, we could see Marshmallow’s debut in the distribution stats early next year.
