Yu has announced a new custom version of Android for its phones. The new operating system is called YU OS, and is based on Android 6.0.1 Marhsmallow.
The firmware update is currently available in a beta form, for four of the company’s devices: Yureka (Plus), Yuphoria and Yunique.
Here is an official video showing YU-OS running on the Yureka, Yunique and Yuphoria:
YU OS is apparently an OPEN OS, a sort of community build for the phones. It does appear to be the replacement of CyanogenOS, the exclusivity for which, is no longer with YU (Lenovo Zuk Z1 runs on CyanogenOS).
According to the press release, the stable build of Android Marshmallow for the Yunique, Yuphoria and Yureka will be released after 30 days. Head to the developer’s webpage to download the beta build.
