ASUS has begun rolling out the Android Marshmallow update for its original 2015 ASUS Zenfone Max (ZC550KL). The successor to the phone was only launched recently, and you can read our Zenfone Max 2016 review in case you plan to buy a phone with good battery life.
According to the Taiwan company’s Zen Talk forums, the update for the Zenfone Max, has the firmware version number ZC550KL _ WW_13.8.26.31.
The change log for the Android 6.0 update reveals that ASUS has removed a few of its apps, i.e., debloated its device, just like it has done so for a few other phones.
The following apps will be removed after the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update:
- Asus Email
- Asus Calendar
- Asus Messaging
ASUS is recommending users to use corresponding apps from Google instead. One important thing to note is that the Android Marshmallow does not support APP2SD, so you need to move any installed apps back to the phone’s internal storage, before updating to the new version of the OS.
If you have not received the update notification, you can check for it manually by navigating to Settings > About > System Update.
