Google may be planning a surprise, because the Android P launch date has just been leaked. A tweet by Evleaks, shows a calendar with the letter P placed inside the space for August 20th.
That is likely the Android P launch date. So, whats the big deal about this? Firstly, Android P seems to be arriving at the same time like its predecessor.
Here is an interesting fact about Android. In comparison to the leaked date, Android Oreo was launched on August 21st, 2017 and Android Nougat was launched on August 22nd, 2016. The Android P launch date is set for August 20th, 2018. What’s common between them? There is a pattern here, all 3 of those dates are Mondays, to be more specific, the 3rd Monday of August.
Google recently released the Android P Developer Preview 4, which is the final version of the testing version. So, the company is all set to debut the OS soon. And given the fact that the Android P beta is available to non-Google devices like the Essential Phone, Nokia 7 plus, OnePlus 6, Oppo R15 Pro, Sony Xperia XZ2, Vivo X21, Vivo X21UD and the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S, we could see the final Android P on one of these devices before the next gen Pixel phones are available.
Of course, the Android P launch date is special for more reasons. That is when Google will announce the name of Android P aka Android 9. Could it be Android Pastry or Pumpkin Pie? We only have to wait for 2 more weeks to find out.
The Android P launch date could also mean the Google Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3 XL will be announced on the same day. While we did report about a Pixel 3 XL benchmark earlier today, we aren’t too sure about an early launch of the device. Why?
Google launched the Pixel and Pixel XL on October 20th, 2016 and the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL on October 4th, 2017. So, we could expect a similar Pixel 3 launch date.
