The Android Pie Update for Zenfone 5Z has been released in India, just like we reported it would be. The stable version of the firmware brings some new features to the device.
This includes a new contextual pop-up volume bar, and improvements to the camera. Another new feature is the magnifier, which can be used for copying and pasting text.
ASUS announced the Zenfone 5Z a year ago, with Android 8.0 Oreo on board, and the device has been patched quite regularly with security patches and stability fixes.
Android Pie Update for Zenfone 5Z download size
The update OTA weighs about 1GB in size to download. If you haven’t gotten the Android 9.0 update on your Zenfone 5Z, you can manually check for the new version by navigating to Settings > System > System Updates.
The official support page does not list the updated firmware yet. But do keep in mind that the Android Pie Update for Zenfone 5Z is being rolled out in batches, and it might take a few days to reach all users.
According to the original roadmap, the Android Pie Update for Zenfone Max Pro M1 should arrive in February 2019. And since ASUS did deliver on its promise with the Zenfone 5Z, we are very hopeful it will do the same with the Max Pro M1 too.
