Google has released its latest Android Platform distribution numbers, and it shows a notable improvement for KitKat.
The operating system saw saw its usage numbers rise by 5% in the 1st week of the year.
The table below should give you a more deeper understanding of the statistics:
OS version | Android OS | % Devices |
---|---|---|
2.2 | Froyo | 0.4 |
2.3.x | Gingerbread | 7.8 |
4.0.4 | Ice Cream Sandwich | 6.7 |
4.1.x | Jelly Bean | 19.2 |
4.2.x | Jelly Bean | 20.3 |
4.3 | Jelly Bean | 6.5 |
4.4 | KitKat | 39.1 |
As you can see there is a significant drop in the numbers of all Android OS versions, except KitKat, which has increased from 33.9% in December’s results to 39.1 in January’s.
Lollipop, however isn’t mentioned in the chart or the table, which does not feature any statistics about an OS version which has a usage percentage of 0.1 or below. This isn’t surprising as Lollipop was just released last month for Nexus devices and a few other devices.
