BlackBerry have announced that they have released the new 2.0 update for Android and iOS devices.
The latest version is packed with new features including BBM Voice, BBM Channels, Location Sharing, etc.You can call your BBM contacts for free by using your device’s Wi-Fi or Mobile Data connection. The contact’s status will display a green icon, when they are available for a BBM Voice call.
If you have previously been in online chatrooms, you will be at home with BBM Channels, where users get together and talk about their favorite topics. Available topics include products, hobbies, sports, entertainment, fashion, cars and more. You can also create new channels and start your own BBM community.
BBM has partenered with Glympse, to share your live location with your BBM contacts. You can also choose the duration for which you want to share your location. The 2.0 update also brings the ability to share files with your contacts. You can also share and receive voice notes, photos, calendar events etc.
Dropbox Integration is another key feature in this update, and allows you to send files directly from the cloud, to your contact. Similarly, you can also store the received files to your Dropbox account, or save it locally in your phone’s storage.
If you wished for new emoticons, allow me to say “wish granted!”. The latest version brings 100 new emoticons for you to play with.
BlackBerry have also raised the number of users in a BBM group to 50 persons per Group.
