Blackberry has announced a new Android phone called the Blackberry DTEK50. This comes as a surprise, as the launch sort of came out of the blue.
But unlike its previous Android phone, the PRIV, which came with a cool physical keyboard which the company is renown for, it appears that DTEK is not from Blackberry’s in-house designers. It is actually the Alcatel Idol 4, which BlackBerry has rebranded with its own software additions.
The BlackBerry DTEK50 sports a 5.2-inch Full HD 1080p display, which has a scratch resistant glass and an Oleophobic coating to prevent fingerprint smudges. The device runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, which is packed with security features which lets the phone monitor the OS and apps for privacy issues, and notifies you of the same.
The DTEK50 is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor with 3GB RAM and an Adreno 405 GPU. The phone has 16GB of storage and supports upto 2TB of expandable memory via microSD card slot. The DTEK50 has a Convenience Key on the side, which can be customised for accessing most used apps, tasks and even for muting an ongoing call.
The Blackberry DTEK50 features a 13 megapixel rear camera, with PDAF, Dual LED flash, and an 8 megapixel front camera with an f/2.2 aperture with a front facing flash for selfies.
